ABOUT

Mission & History

Rotary Youth Exchange is a global youth exchange program that connects students and families around the world. Our mission is to promote world peace by fostering cross-cultural understanding and developing future leaders. We believe that by providing young people with the opportunity to experience different cultures, we can create a more interconnected and peaceful world.

In the 1970s, Rotary International made Youth Exchange an official part of Rotary's programming. But exchanges had already been happening for decades prior! The first documented exchange occurred in 1929, initiated by the Rotary Club of Copenhagen. Today, thousands of high schools students from over 100 countries participate in Rotary Youth Exchange.

Organization

District 7670 is a group of Rotary clubs in Western North Carolina comprised of 40+ clubs across 22 counties. For youth exchange, our district is included in the O-E (formerly Ohio-Erie) Multidistrict. This helps us to combine resources to keep the youth exchange program running as smoothly as possible.
